Established in 1974, the Builders Association of Minnesota (BAM) was created to provide professional home builders, remodelers, and associates with a central voice for the industry. Associated with 15 local associations throughout the state, members have taken action to provide home buyers with professional, quality service and products. BAM and its members were instrumental in instituting the builder licensing law, the contractor recovery fund and the home warranty law - all to protect consumers and promote the professionalism that can and does exist in the home building industry. NAHB is a Washington, D.C.-based trade association whose mission is to enhance the climate for housing and the building industry. Chief among NAHB's goals is providing and expanding opportunities for all consumers to have safe, decent and affordable housing. Founded in 1942, NAHB is a federation of more than 800 state and local associations. About one-third of NAHB's 220,000 members are homebuilders and/or remodelers.
